The 2026 clinic will be held at Brandon High School from Monday, July 6th through Wednesday, July 8th.
About the Clinic
The Maestro Drum Major Clinic seeks to provide exemplary training to current and future marching band leaders to create well-rounded, knowledgeable, and confident drum majors. Students will receive instruction in conducting style, score preparation, marching technique, verbal and whistle commands, teamwork, and leadership skills. Students will receive personal feedback and training meant to bring out their natural strengths as leaders for an overall experience that is customized to each student. Conducting TechniqueItem Link List Item 1
Students at Maestro will learn the basics of conducting technique and the various styles used throughout the marching arts. They will get personal feedback and work closely with staff to refine their technique, including tips for practicing at home. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with teams from other schools to learn from and support each other.

At Maestro, drum majors will have dedicated time to prepare their scores for the season with guidance from staff. Students will collaborate and share different approaches to score study and memorization techniques so they can find what works best for them.

Marching TechniqueItem Link List Item 3
Drum majors are the first part of the band an audience or a judge sees, even before the show has officially started. Put your best foot forward - literally - with the best marchers in the band! Additionally, marching practice will show students common marching mistakes and how to address them. They will leave with the confidence and know-how to help their peers look their best.

Students will review the most commonly used verbal and whistle commands. By practicing together and gaining confidence in calling commands, they will be able to confidently lead their band on and off the field!

ElectivesItem Link
In addition to the core instructional topics, students at Maestro will participate in a variety of elective classes. These classes are aimed at creating well-rounded, knowledgeable drum majors - beyond the conducting. Our goal is to prepare drum majors to assist in any and every way! Students will learn from professional musicians in master classes aimed at giving them an overview of each instrument group, including basic repairs for instruments, simple fingering fixes, and common warmup routines so that they can assist their directors as needed throughout the marching season.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the fee to attend?
The fee for 2026 is $300 per student. Included in this is the student workbook, a t-shirt, and lunch every day.
We don't live in the area. Are there housing options?
Housing is the responsibility of the student and their family. However, recommendations for hotels in the area can be made. Upon request, Maestro staff can help facilitate home stays with students in the area.
Can I register in person?
Please register online using the link above so we know to expect you. Payment can be made using the secure link to our PayPal or arrangements can be made to pay in person prior to the beginning of the clinic. Please be aware that failure to pay will result in your student being barred from participating in the clinic.
